Learn to Solder - Build an Electronic Gadget
Repeat this Workshop as many times as you like. See special event dates below.
For adults and children ages 10 and up, with or without parents, learn how to solder electronics to make cool gadgets that light up, make noise, or run around your kitchen floor. Impress (or annoy) your friends!
Topics learned while building kits include soldering safety, basic electronics parts and their functions, and elementary DC circuitry. Students will need good vision and dexterity to handle hot soldering irons. General workshop tools, materials, and safety glasses will be provided. First-time participants will receive a free beginner-level electronics kit (Spinning Top or a Night Light).
Price is per single child or adult individual, but parents may work with and/or help their child at no extra charge.
First-time beginner kit is free, part of the instructional class (Spinning Top or a Night Light). You may repeat the workshop multiple times, each time building a different kit purchased from us or you may bring one of your own. Kits range from $5 to $25, plus tax. Note, you are paying for dedicated instructor time to help you solder. Members are welcome to purchase kits to solder on their own at NEST, or you can purchase kits to take home and solder in your own workshop..
