2025 After School Enrichment Workshops

For member students in grades 4 through 9, After School Workshops are fun and educational enrichment activities.  Early drop-off and late pickup can be arranged.  Space is limited.  Ideally we want to gather a group of 4 to 8 students for an optimally sized program. Also check out our After School Junior Scientists for grades K-3.

+ This program is offered primarily to members at no charge. However, non-members may participate for a non-member rate of $25 per 2 hour block.

+ We try to give students choices and variety each day.  Activities may include Electronic Kits Soldering, Battlin’ Bots, LASER cutting and engraving, Woodworking, Model Rocketry, Planetarium Shows, Chess / Board Games /Computer Games, Bridge Building Contests, Oobleck, Arts and Crafts, Airplane Design, Chess and Billiards tournaments.

+ NE SciTech offers snacks and lunch items for purchase separately (most items are $1 to $1.50 each) or students may bring their own food.

+ The lead instructor has been a teacher for 43 years and has taught math, algebra, Latin, French, English, chemistry, astronomy, earth science, geology, electronics, computer programming, woodworking, graphic design, photography, amateur radio, and orienteering. Adult instructors in this program go through CORI/SORI verification.

+ Parents are welcome to stay during the workshop to assist their own children, or to hang out in another room. WIFI access and a ready supply of coffee, tea, and snacks is available.

After School Workshops Details

+ Although group activities are structured instructional time, we recognize that some students need frequent breaks or change of pace, so students are welcome to switch in and out of structured activities as they wish. Students arriving earlier or staying later will have unstructured time to socialize, work on projects, play games, watch educational science videos, or just chill out.

+ We have a variety of project kits and materials available so students have choices. Small or reusable project kits are built into the price of the workshop. Larger or advanced kits or projects that consume more than average material will be billed at cost. This might include extra wood, electronics kits, meteorites for jewelry, and over-size 3D print objects, for example.

+ We will try to accommodate parents’ commuting and work schedules for early drop-offs and late pickups. If you need that extra time, please understand that it will be unstructured activity time (as explained above).

In addition to registering for this workshop, please fill out the Student Permissions Form.
